A solution to carrying the sport legs I hope

I love Sport legs, but the form factor is a pain in the butt. In intense race situations I do best with 4-5 capsules an hour. I've had a hard time figuring out how to carry this and dispense it.

They come in sample packets that look like gels.

But these require using two hands to open or ripping the top off and spitting it out which is littering.

I had been using these little pill boxes with a push button it that allowed opening with one hand. But these are still sort of a pain. On this past century I used baggies which was a real pain.

Came across this:

I'm gonna try this out to see if it's faster to intake.

If you carry a water bottle, how about cracking them open and pouring them in your water bottle? You should be downing a water bottle every hour on the bike so put the pill contents in the water bottle. Either that or mix it in with Hammer Gel and the flask that comes with the Hammer Gel 14 oz. bottle. Or just use the Hammer Gel flask and mix the pill contents with water.

I have thought about this, and wanted to ask the manufacturer about it.

But my speculation is that these things work better when taken in set doses rather than intaking them in small/continuous amounts such as with energy drink.

There really is a 'kick-in' feeling with these things. 1hr to 1hr10 minutes and I can just feel the effect taking hold on the legs.

Everyone is individual but I've found that a higher dosage than the recommened works better for high intensity racing situations or very difficult riding.

I'm a Sport Leg user as well. I've been putting my post 2 hour mix in with my last musette bottle. I suggested the water/pill mix for 3-5 hour efforts all you'd carry is a single last dose. The flasks are as big as pill boxes and you can shoot the water faster than popping pills and drowing with a shot of sport drink. As always, test in training and adopt in racing.

Ahh. Now I understand. That is a great idea. One of the biggest problems my friend and I have had is the coating on the Sportlegs capsules.

It has a tendency to stick in the throat. Especially when taken during high intenstiy efforts. Having all the capsules dissolved in a small amount of water for quick intake is good.

Good stuff!

I also use mostly Hammer Nutrition's Endurolytes. Keep 'em in an M&M mini container (similar to the Fuel-Belt one you showed) in my back jersey pocket. Two pills an hour and things are usually good to go.

Oh my god, there is a great deal of worthwhile data above!
